"Coffee is the best thing in life because it brings people together."

AOBA Coffee Farm-to-Cup Project

The AOBA Coffee Farm-to-Cup Project was incubated to support coffee farmers directly. The goal to reduce intermediaries in the supply chain is crucial for 5 key reasons:

  • Better farmer livelihoods and climate change resilience. Direct trade ensures farmers receive a fairer share of profits.
  • Higher quality coffee thanks to shorter supply chains, which preserve coffee freshness and better tasting.
  • Better food safety thanks to more transparency in coffee’s origin, ingredient sources and production methods. In addition, streamlined supply chains decrease spoilage and waste.
  • Coffee brings health benefits to consumers, especially in natural detoxification. Chlorogenic acid in coffee may help eliminate toxins, and diuretic effect can help flush out toxins through increased urination.

What Special about the Highland Region to grow AOBA Robusta?

Air: high humidity

Vietnamese Robusta are grown from an altitude of 700m above sea level with extraordinarily high-quality output in the Central Highlands in Vietnam, such as Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong.

High air humidity in the region is suitable for coffee trees to grow. The tropical climate has two seasons: rainy and dry. The low rainfall help reduce the growth of many types of insects. The significant difference of high and low temperature between day and night, i.e. hot sunny days, chilly nights, makes coffee grown in this area taste much better.

Soil: red basal

The most favorable characteristic of the Central Highlands is red basaltic soil. The soil has more than 80% basalt with fertile, fresh, and phosphorous characteristics that are suitable for developing industrial crops, especially coffee trees.

Because of the favorable soil characteristics, farmers can save cost of buying fertilizer or watering for coffee trees to grow, as a result, coffee price here is much more competitive. Along with that are the experience of growing coffee that many generations of people in the Central Highlands have produced delicious and quality Robusta coffee beans.

What Special about AOBA Coffee Production and Rich Flavor?

Environment friendly

AOBA commitment to sustainability is reflected in our support for two eco-conscious coffee processing methods:

  • Natural/Dry Processing: requires minimal water and energy.
  • Honey/Pulped Natural Processing: uses less water than wet processing.

This approach reduces water consumption and minimizes the environmental impact of coffee production, which aligns with our commitment to supporting sustainable farming practices and preserving the ecosystems in coffee-growing regions.

Rich Flavor

By prioritizing these environmentally friendly processing techniques, AOBA also ensures the production of high-quality, distinctively flavored coffees.

Robusta has a strong taste with a grainy overtone and a rich, peanut-like after-taste. The taste of Robusta coffee ranges from neutral to very bitter. The flavor of Robusta coffee is distinctive. When being treated with care, high-quality Robusta beans can produce a great cup of coffee.

What Special about AOBA Phin Coffee from AOBA Robusta beans?

Taste of Culture

Vietnam has uniquely coffee brewing method that brings out a rich and delicious taste, which is filter coffee.

Vietnamese filter coffee is made in a single-serve using a small metal filter called a “phin”. The “phin” has a cup, a filter chamber and a lid. The “phin” is placed on top of a small glass cup. The cup of the filter is then filled with coarsely ground Robusta and boiling water. The coffee then drops slowly, creating a special smell and taste of “darkness”, which has become an integral part of Vietnamese culture.
